ITINERARY:
- 0745-0800 hours pick up from the hotel. Located 24 kilometers from the center of Kuching, the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre provides an excellent opportunity to view semi-wild orangutans in a natural setting.
- Over 20 orangutans live in forests within the Semenggoh nature reserve and they often return to the center to receive supplemental feeding.
- The feeding area is set in a natural amphitheater where it is possible to observe the orangutans coming down from the surrounding forest for the food provided.
- The rangers provide a briefing on the purpose of the center and the conservation objectives.
- Upon arrival, your guide will point out any orangutan nests that can be seen from the path. After the briefing by the rangers, you will walk along a short trail through the forest to the feeding platform.
- Sometimes the orangutans are already on the platform. On other days the rangers call out their names and the orangutan descend through the trees to grab a free meal.
